Thank you. This page explains what your donation buys, what part of it is tax deductible, and where the money goes. It is part of the Terms of Use.
WinWinLabs is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, IRS number 84-4720243, approved since March 2020. There are two different things people call a donation on this site, and they are treated differently:
Only the part of your payment that exceeds the value of what you received is deductible. If you donate $100 and receive campaign entries worth $100, the deductible amount is nothing, even though the money went to a non-profit.
Where a payment over $75 comes with something in return, your receipt states the deductible amount in writing. That is what IRS Publication 1771 requires, and it is the number to use — not the amount charged.
Processor fees come off first. Card, bank and PayPal payments carry a fee — a percentage of the amount plus a fixed charge per transaction — and that is deducted by the processor before anything reaches us. Your receipt shows the amount charged and the amount credited, and the difference is that fee. Nobody on this platform receives 100% of a card payment, and we do not claim otherwise.
What remains is split according to the fundraising campaign you gave through. Every paid campaign publishes its split, and the share going to the named cause is never less than 10%. The rest covers the prize pool, the creator of the campaign, and running the platform. What a named beneficiary is promised, and when it reaches them, is in the Beneficiary Terms.
If you set up a recurring donation, we tell you the amount and the date before the first one, and you can stop it at any time from your account or by emailing [email protected]. Stopping it takes effect before the next charge.
Donations can be refunded in the 30 days after you make one, with the limits set out in the Refund Policy. Refunds return as WinWinLabs credits, which can be cashed out.
What we collect when you donate, and who receives it, is in the Privacy Policy. We do not sell or rent donor lists. We name donors publicly only where you have chosen to be named.
You receive an emailed receipt for every payment, and every one of them stays in your transaction history. A written acknowledgment for a single contribution of $250 or more is available on request, as is our IRS determination letter.

These funds directly support FIRST Robotics Competition, and it's mission to save the world by enabling life-changing experiences for K-12 students.
How to be Awarded the Grant
Rules: We will award one individual, between the ages of 14 to 24 years old, a $1,000 grant, to help fund their next steps on a potentially impactful idea.
This is an unrestricted grant, meaning we will not tell the grantee how to use the money.
The beneficiary of this fundraising campaign is the FIRST Robotics Competition, who will also receive $1,000 in the form of a cash donation. You can learn more about FIRST Robotics here, https://firstinspires.org
The final grantee will solely be determined by our all-human judging committee, though we do employ an initial sorting process that is automated.
